Virgin birth? Well - if she was Mary the Slut, who would have believed her? No more breaking out the turkey basters girls! A technique has been found that will cause an egg to start creating cells without a sperm. 'Course, in this case, scientists are pretty certain that the process cannot produce a mammal baby, though something similar has been found to work on mice. Bonus: a child without two gentic donors = ??. Hmmm. Some insects and some lizards manage it, soooo - trashy monster movies anyone? I'm all for genetic manipulation. I don't want to have a child until it could have a tail or feathery wings, but I must say I'm slightly discomfited by the thought of creating worker drone humans. There's something slightly soulless in cloning human bees.

Hallo the World. Jeff has joined us as the [livejournal.com profile] japanese_cowboy . Let's all go pressure him to make art.

Spent my last night with [livejournal.com profile] blingforjesus . He's discovered a delicious anime called The Millenium Actress. We can't think as to why we've never heard of it before. I strongly urge everyone to find it. It's a rare bit of  imaginative phantasmagorical romance.

I think I need to work on my vocabulary a bit. Bring it down a wee bit, perhaps. The Zim Marathon has reduced many of us to funny voices and random outpourings of TacoDoom, but to use a word like phantasmagorical without thinking about it? That's a bit much. Tonight is the free-thinkers party hosted by [livejournal.com profile] azilut . That should likely help.  The Lord  [livejournal.com profile] _dubiosity_  calls them The Raving Atheists. I don't know what I'm walking into, but I'm sure it will be fun. Sweet arguing among relative intellignce about boys and taste undestined. Should be nice.

Found out today as well that my hopeful job at Storyeum allows dyed hair as long as it's neat and not anything seriously flamboyant. This news brings me joy. I'm looking forward to getting the job so as to I almost wish I had something to pray to.
