I apply a modified Bechdel test to films for my own demo:
Film stars two (or more) gay men who talk to each other about something other than fashion/hair.
That rules out tokenism, mostly, and gives me something to look forward to when I go to a film. It is a short list, and I'll see all sorts of other things, but I'm THRILLED when a movie passes the "More Than Just Fabulous" test.
I think Brokeback was the last one I saw that was "mainstream."
