Alastair and I tried to see Sweeney Todd yesterday. We failed completely, but not after we braved the inside of a shopping mall. What a spectacle! The traffic alone... Surfacing was obviously a mistake. We should have stayed hiding, like I did today, processing photographs and listening to bad-ass Russian hip-hop thick with accordion.

Speaking of Russian hip-hop, you may like Delfin.

(And various others on the same director's profile page.)

Some of his songs remind me a little of VAST - well, if Jon Crosby rapped in Russian, in any case.

I can see the relation to VAST, though I rely on my music for more melody han Delfin seems willing to provide. Interesting, however. I do like hearing about new music. Thanks!

You might like something more like this, then.

As a side note, Russians do some rather... interestingly odd things with their music videos, from what little I've seen. I wonder how much of it is the particular Russian music I've been exposed to, though.

The plot, as far as I can tell, was that tehey were kept in a hanger to write advertising jingles, but they were too black-lipstick, so they were jettisoned out into space by the executives.

That was supremely neat.

As I wandered through the commercial madness (as little as possible, yet 'tis impossible to avoid completely), I quickly became sick of the blaring music. I eventually became hostile towards it and was thinking violent thoughts when I realized - I get to leave the store - the poor retail workers have to listen to it ALL shift long.

Stealth ipod earbuds must be all the rage this year....

I don't actually do christmas, so it's rare for me to be anywhere but a grocery shop in December. I think this week might have been the first time I was in a shopping centre this time of year since we lived in California.

Beautifully put.

Indeed, my iPod has been all that has saved me from the blaring Christmas aural assalt. It's funny how every year has driven me further and further away from the "jollyness" of the season. Sure, I love the people and the gathering. It's as good an excuse as any. I just hate the visual and aural abuse.

I complained to a local utilities company after I had to sit through six songs in a row about "christ our saviour" while I was on hold with their tech support. The man I was talking to dissaproved, "most people just get into the spirit of the season, you know!"

*sighs*

Which, possibly, I could do if I weren't feeling like I was under attack.

Why must you always attack Christmas?
