Ich lebe in einem Kasten.

I've been mistaken for a porn star.

With Silva's departure has come The Great Mess.

I have no floor anymore. There is no floor, only boxes.
They have become my floor, my furnishings, my overwhelming purpose of being.
The boxes have become totality. They are all.

As Kyle shoots it out of the field with Neil frickin' Gaiman!

It's Gaiman. Only one of him, sort of thing.

And Anna the Nerd lost before she even showed up.

I'm going to visit Kyle in September, when I'm out for Katie's wedding, and I'm going to try and take enough time to bus over to Montreal too, while I'm at it. Got a couch?

I will be endlessly insulted if you don't take it too. You've over three years of overdue cuddles coming.

[identity profile] breklor.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
I hate to say it, but I can see the resemblance.

[identity profile] porphyre.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Only in that we're both blonde with glasses.

[identity profile] breklor.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
And geeky. And fairly pale.

In the future everybody will be a pornstar for fifteen minutes.
I mean, now.

[identity profile] porphyre.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I want the footage when it's your turn, then.

[identity profile] rocket-jockey.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I went and looked - maybe a faint resemblance around the eyes, sorta. But she's not nearly as interesting-looking.

[identity profile] porphyre.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
That's nice of you. Thank you.

I am often mistaken for a stripper. When I pay in singles (which I do when I dip into the husband's Bus Jar) I get asked *where* I dance, not *if* I dance.

I should just go ahead and dance. I would disappoint a lot less people.

Neil is still teh awesum. I'm loving this *Six Degrees Of Neil* thing.

[identity profile] porphyre.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
*blinks* Having spent time in your company, I can't quite understand that. Yes, you are teh hotness, but... don't the cat-ears give it away? Anyway, why are hot chicks automatically strippers? Your town confuses me.

And yes, the 6 degrees thing is great. My favourite part about it is that every new link seems to bring him closer.

I got to meet Neil Gaiman years ago; he was in town to do a signing of his (then) brand-new book, "American Gods". The guy is funny! He has that wonderful, dry English sense of humour that I both love and envy. Working in a bookstore means getting to see anything/everything that he publishes once it comes out; he just published a book called "The Dangerous Alphabet" which in my opinion rivals Edward Gorey's "The Gashlycrumb Tinies".

And porn star or no, just remember: everybody is somebody else's fetish.

[identity profile] porphyre.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Shame got to go for dinner with him when he was in town for that. Bloody lucky devils, that's all I've got to say.

[identity profile] themythicalman.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Bastard. Still, I got to shake his hand, get him to autograph two books and ask him a question - not so bad, all things considered.

[identity profile] porphyre.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Better than me, who keep getting closer and closer through other people, but hasn't even read all his books.

[identity profile] michel-lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
AMERICAN GODS stands supreme, far as I'm concerned.

[identity profile] porphyre.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Wasn't all that keen on it, tell the truth, except for that brilliant line about the heavy feather.

[identity profile] themythicalman.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I love how he takes fairy tales/mythological creatures/literary characters and gives them a modern spin. His short story "The Problem of Susan" was downright creepy. And of course, the book he wrote with Terry Pratchett was hi-freakin'-larious; I laughed until I hurt when I read that book.

[identity profile] babykarret.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Um....am I not looking hard enough (or at the right person)? You're *way* bustier than her. Lulz.

[identity profile] porphyre.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess I really should go look at her site. Mike apparently went and spidered it "for posterity's sake", but I've only done a quick flash at her main page. You're right, though, I'm more porn star shaped than most people.
