Fantastic. Is it free-standing, or has it been bolted to the ceiling?

It must be wired, though it would be splendid if it were free-standing. Apparently there's a lot of detail on how they did it in the catalogue, but I haven't been able to find it on-line yet.

If it were me I'd jam the whole thing down on a solid aluminum column through the concrete.

Absolutely striking either way.

Me too. That's what I'm really hoping for.

I can't tell if he's balancing on his trunk or if he's holding onto the ground for dear life to keep from floating up into space.

I like the idea that it's fallen from high up in the air and landed like that.

I like that people in the picture aren't as tall as the length of the trunk.

I love this. I also love the idea that she's holding on to keep from being dragged off into space, though I think the body positioning seems to imply an intentional trunk-stand (ears down, legs seem to be positioned for balance.)

I like the buried rod idea but it seems very permanent - what if they wanted to exhibit this elsewhere?

There's lots of sculptures that are held up by buried rods. Generally, when it's time to move them, they're simply dug up and the floors replaced.

Interesting. Didn't mean to post anonymously.

We had a really great one here in Vancouver which was a church standing on it's spire. It was, sadly, eventually taken down. After years of it being up, someone finally made a fuss.

The sheer absurdity of this means it deserves a prime spot at the Republican national convention next week.

The GOP: a large, dead animal, being made to things it would be impossible to do when it was alive.

Of course for that it would have to be a White Elephant.

If only PT Barnum could see this now.

Somewhere out of frame is a guy with a clock around his neck, armed with two turntables and a microphone.
