It must be wired, though it would be splendid if it were free-standing. Apparently there's a lot of detail on how they did it in the catalogue, but I haven't been able to find it on-line yet.
I love this. I also love the idea that she's holding on to keep from being dragged off into space, though I think the body positioning seems to imply an intentional trunk-stand (ears down, legs seem to be positioned for balance.)
I like the buried rod idea but it seems very permanent - what if they wanted to exhibit this elsewhere?
We had a really great one here in Vancouver which was a church standing on it's spire. It was, sadly, eventually taken down. After years of it being up, someone finally made a fuss.
