I never read it as a child. in fact, I wasn't even aware it existed until I was in my twenties, and that's far, far too late to care.

Not at all, I say! I'm finding that (re)discovering these books later in life gives me a whole new appreciation for them. There's an awful lot of garbage out there, and jewels are jewels.

Now, if someone would only make a feature-length movie of 'The Gashlycrumb Tinies'.
