I've been out of town and away from the computer for over a week. My time was spent in the company of good people in an interesting place having lovely conversations and tasty, tasty food. In the meantime, other things happened.

Tell me what I've missed.

I got to meet Amanda Palmer last week! Not at a show, I actually had a brief time with just us (and twitter and cellphones) at the airport before Andru Bemis and Jason Webley whisked her away.

Other than that, LJ has been strangely quite, and now I realize why!

Lu's Pharmacy opened up on the DTES. It's beautiful, has security, and serves only women. However, they only serve women who were born as women.

Things are looking busy this weekend.

Someone I know has recently posted about this at her LJ, including an incredible letter that she has sent to Lu's Pharmacy. The last three paragraphs of her letter are solid gold, in my humble opinion.

It finally rained up here on the mesa rather than just sprinkling a little and the high desert has bloomed.

Come see.

Actually, I left the whole world on pause while you were gone; for some reason, I thought you were just going to the kitchen for a cup of tea and would be right back. My mistake.

From www.ted.com: "Artist Theo Jansen demonstrates the amazingly lifelike kinetic sculptures he builds from plastic tubes and lemonade bottles. His creatures are designed to move -- and even survive -- on their own."

Other good news, from cbc.ca: "An HIV/AIDS vaccine developed in Canada has passed safety tests in animals and the researchers are awaiting approval to begin human trials in the U.S."

I recently gave someone a mini-lecture on Theo Jansen, mentioning they need to check out the TED. One of these days, I plan to catch up on all of them.
